Instead of using the full natural-diamond color and clarity nomenclature, the current GIA Laboratory-Grown Diamond Quality Assessment classifies qualifying diamonds as Premium or Standard.

The overall assessment considers color, clarity and finish. Round brilliant diamonds also have cut-related requirements. Eligible stones must weigh at least 0.15 carats, and GIA laser inscribes the girdle with “Laboratory-Grown” and the corresponding assessment number.
